Where is Villa Lazzaroni?

Villa Lazzaroni sits on Via Appia Nuova in the Appio-Latino area, close to Furio Camillo. The park occupies part of a historic complex that once included a villa and garden; the public park is one half, while the villa building and the other half of the garden belong to the Missionary Sisters of Mary.

The site dates to the late 19th century, when the Lazzaroni family created a villa here on the grounds of an earlier vineyard. The main building adapted an older farmhouse, with additional rooms once used for receptions. The garden’s design brings together 18th-century-style perspectives and an undulating landscape.

Construction of a school building and a church for the religious institute partly altered the complex after 1960. In 1979, the Municipality of Rome acquired the area, renovated the main building for district offices and removed the dividing wall. For local context, see this guide to the Furio Camillo neighbourhood.

What can you find in the park?

Turismo Roma describes the park’s facilities and hours: there is a children’s equipped play area, a dog exercise area, sports equipment areas and toilets, and the gates open at 07:00 and close at 19:00 every day, including holidays.

The garden’s mix of perspectives, slopes, plantings, fountains and rustic flowerbeds gives the public park a varied landscape rather than a single formal layout.

The Teatro di Villa Lazzaroni is also inside the park. Its operator gives access points at Via Appia Nuova 522 and Via Tommaso Fortifiocca 71. The theatre is in the historic villa and reopened after years of closure and restoration work under a concession promoted by Municipio Roma VII.

How do you get to Villa Lazzaroni from Furio Camillo?

How do you get to Villa Lazzaroni from Furio Camillo?

Furio Camillo is the local metro station on Line A. Villa Lazzaroni is about a 6-minute walk from Rome Winners Home Guesthouse. That timing gives you a local reference point, but it does not establish a walking time between the station and the park entrance.

ATAC identifies Furio Camillo as accessible by reservation and notes assistance for reduced-mobility reservations at the station. Check ATAC’s accessibility information if you need to arrange this.

The station and park sit in a neighbourhood with other local green spaces, including Parco di Villa Fiorelli; the same area also provides a starting point for this one-day Rome itinerary from Furio Camillo.
